Holden Astra Convertible Roof - Replacement Parts

If your Roof is stuck opening or Closing on your Holden Astra ALNO Product Services can help.

  • The roof will not go back without pushing it
  • The roof will not close and the car just beeps
  • When open or closing the door hydraulic oil leaked all over the back seat.

ALNO Product Services have resolved these issues and many with a warranty.

To keep your Holden Astra roof working when you want it to it needs to be services just like the rest of the car. The more the roof is opened & closed the less it needs to be serviced. In general terms the genuine Holden Astra roof parts / components are replaced every six to seven years. That is to say everyone that has owned a roof for seven years has replaced the latches and then followed by the Hydraulic oil lines. The replacement of these components is due to plastic degradation, in warmer climates the replacement cycle reduces to fives as the rate of degradation increases.

Holden Astra Convertible - Roof Problem - Solved

Holden Astra Convertible - Roof Problem - Solved

Tom,

I know some time has lapsed from your post but I have a 2002 Holden Astra Convertible Bertone and have suffered from the same issue broken roof latches the dealer quoted $1400 (+ GST.) each for new latches.

Fortunately I manage a machine shop that has tackled many cost saving modifications to automotive components for many customers in the past furthermore could not believe a replacing each roof locking device could cost $1400 (x2 = $2800 +GST.). So our company ALNO Product Services have come up with a method of modifying the latch so it continues to operate. It has been working for over six months now and will keep this forum updated on how long it actually lasts.

Anyway to modify both latches cost $810 (+GST.) and the dealer charged me $350 to remove and fit both latches the whole process took less than one day

If you or anyone else needs additional information on getting broken latches fixed part No. 0919 8575 & 0919 8574 or you may like to see the modified latches working they can contact me at ALNO Product Services on the central coast or Google ALNO Product Services West Gosford central coast

Astra Convertible Broken Roof - Fixed

Local Qualified Mechanics to Replace Holden Astra Roof Latches.

ALNO Product Services are now supplying Qualified Mechanics across Australia with modified roof latches for the Holden Astra Convertible.

Broken Roof latches on your Astra Convertible is a common issue across the range of Astra convertibles. One can assume that the latches have been design to fail as failure of these latches protects the hydraulic system from failure. If the hydraulic system fails the cost of replacing / overhauling it is out weighted by the cost of replacing the roof latch, in terms of labor alone.

We have now seen over three attempts of do it yourself or unqualified mechanics trying to modify the latches and each time the lead screw that drives the latch has been damaged this has resulted in the the complete replacement of the latch which costs AU$1400 per latch plus the added extras of fitting and plus GST. from the Holden Dealerships.

We have also had one case where a do it your self or unqualified mechanic has modified the latch and the hydraulic system has failed when the roof was opening, the hydraulic system need to be fully overhauled.

Having repaired over 75 latches this year to date ALNO Product Services have developed a list of reputable mechanics across Australia that the end user / customer have been more than happy with regard to the service they provide.

To find the closest Mechanic with experience in replacing the broken roof latches contact Alno Product Services (02) 4325 3519

Costs to repair a set ( 2-off ) these Latches are priced at AU$1400 +Gst and or ( 1-off ) AU$1100 +gst for a single latch, these prices don't include delivery or fitting. - These prices are for latches that have not been modified.

Many of the latches that have been modified with the bolts fix last 2-3 months at the most if the lead screw has not been damaged. These modified latches need an additional plastic components machined without these plastic components one of two system failures will occur hydraulic or the electric motor for roof drive chain have burnt out from past customer experience.
